Recording mostly in his aunts' old shed in rural Vermont, Euba (Jacob Weiss) combines DIY experimentation with garage-pop sensibility in his jittery and poignant debut LP. In a nebulous reality, he explores themes of cynicism, optimism, loss, erotic distress, and major life adjustment. The result is a barn-burner, triple-threat cage match between unconventional song structures, duelling classical guitars, and percussion galore. Listen as Euba gazes “toward hopeful lies”, offering glimpses of light in a bleak perceptual world.
